I, apparently, am one of 3 people who are NOT going to I Teach K in Vegas :(
I would love to go - but 1. I can't afford it, and 2. I work every summer teaching VPK. I have been to I teach K - when it was on Orlando (about 4-5 years ago). Why doesn't SDE switch coasts anymore - UGH!!!!! I am hoping to attend the Florida K teachers conference in Nov.
Question - do you guys pay for everything yourself, or does your school help you out?? Right now, it looks like I have to fund all out of county training myself (which makes Vegas a no). Just wondering...
To all of you going - have a great time and please blog about your favorite sessions/trainings :)
I guess I'm one of the other three people not going :( I could have probably been reimbursed next school year for the cost of the conference itself (this is what another teacher at my school is doing), but with just buying a condo even just flight and hotel would have been out of my budget. For the most part, my school is really good about paying for training - or reimbursing the cost - as long as it's approved by the principal beforehand.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!
I'm not going either and am pretty sad about it. I might have been able to get some of the conference paid for but I don't know. I certainly couldn't afford the flight and room considering that I just got married about 3 weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going either, and I am REALLY sad about it! I have been teaching for 12 years, and I have to pay for almost all of my conferences I attend. I must choose wisely where my money goes. I splurged one year and spent almost $300 to go to a Daily Five conference and it was only for one day! I just can't afford it. I'm the money maker in the family {not saying much at all!} We are on a tight budget. Even if they did come to Florida, I still couldn't afford the price to attend the conference. So expensive!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll stop whining...
Thanks for letting me feel not so lonely!

You guys are super lucky if your district/school would chip in or pay for trainings. The best I can hope for is SAC or PTA to chip in. I am hoping to cry for 1/2 of the Florida Teacher Conference amount - at least it would be something.
ReplyDeleteI am with you. I have always wanted to go to the I Teach K conference but I would have to fund all the cost myself. We don't even get to go to the kindergarten conferences in our state (SC).
